Event Description
Last winter, we began restoring an oak savanna—one of the rarest ecosystems in the world. This fall and winter, we will continue that work, hand-cutting invasive sumac and honeysuckle so that native species can emerge and thrive next spring. New tools will enable us to spot-treat the stumps without bending over or getting too up-close and personal with herbicide. When: Saturdays, November 26th, December 3rd and 10th, from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm, with a cookie break midway.
Where: Meet in the parking lot on Sutter Drive.
What to wear: Sturdy shoes and clothes that are suitable for working outside and can withstand possible encounters with thorny brambles.
What to know/bring: No experience is necessary! We will have tools, but feel free to bring a lopper if you have one. Also bring water. We'll provide the cookies.
Location
Donald County Park Parking Lot on Sutter Drive, off of Hwy 92.
Note: This is NOT the Pop's Knoll entrance.
