Event Description
Join Laura Purdy for a fun afternoon on the farm learning about cheese making on the homestead scale. We'll start with a demonstration on making Farmer's cheese - an easy, tasty, sliceable cheese that you can make in about an hour with items already in your refrigerator and pantry. Along the way we'll discuss a bit of the science and history behind cheese making, the supplies and ingredients needed to get started and where to find them, as well as next steps on the cheese making journey. Taste testing our finished product is also included! Laura will be sure to bring along her favorite books and resources for those that want to continue to learn more.
Laura Purdy has always had a love of farm life & rural heritage. Over the years she's become very interested in the "homesteading arts" including knitting, pickling and food preservation, animal raising, and of course, cheese making. She lives on a 30-acre farmette in Westport with her husband, golden retriever, 2 cats, and 7 goats which provide her family with farm fresh milk seasonally.
Note date has been changed to: April 14th.
Update: 1:00 pm session registration is full. There are still spots available in the morning session from 9:30 - 12 pm, $8 per person.
