The 126-acre Cherokee Marsh Wildlife Area is a public hunting area located just west of DeForest near the intersection of River Road and State Highway 19. Lands are directly adjacent to Cherokee Marsh Fishery Area owned by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Upper reaches of the Yahara River wind through the property which contains a mix of agricultural lands, grasslands, wetlands, and riparian areas. Deer, turkey, and waterfowl are the primary hunting opportunities. A small parking area is located on the north side of STH 19 and a second parking area is located off of Liuna Way that provides access to a canoe/kayak landing.
