This heavily wooded 41-acre conservancy park offers a stark contrast to urban settings. It is the highest point on the north side of the City of Madison with a magnificent view of Lake Mendota. Facilities are limited to picnic tables and trails throughout the woods. The park is located on the north side of Northport Drive behind the Dane County Human Services Building.
This park is supported by Friends of Lake View Hill Park.
Lake View Sanatorium
Lake View Hill Park served as a county tuberculosis sanatorium from 1930-1966. The buildings are on the National Register of Historic Places. Remnant structures help tell the story of the sanatorium, including the veranda of the Dormitory for Help that was preserved and redeveloped into an interpretive site to display the historical significance of the property.
